Uttarakhand fixes a daily cap of 5,000 for Hemkund Sahib

Dehradun: After the Char Dham yatra, the Uttarakhand government has put a daily cap of 5,000 on the pilgrims visiting the Hemkund Sahib gurdwara, the revered Sikh shrine in Chamoli district. The state government took the decision in consultation with Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib Management Trust. Like for the Char Dham yatra, people can register for the Hemkund Sahib yatra at registrationandtouristcare.ukgov.in or on the app called Tourist Care Uttarakhand. The gurdwara will open on 22nd May 2022. The Hemkund Sahib yatra will be flagged off on 19th May 2022 by Uttarakhand governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) from Gurdwara Rishikesh, which is the base camp of the yatra. "The gurudwara trust and the state government have decided that only 5,000 pilgrims will be allowed to take the Hemkund Sahib yatra daily. Everyone coming to the shrine must get their registration done and carry their e-pass," Seva Singh, manager of Govind Ghat gurdwara.
According to data available with the state government, in less than 10 days of the pilgrimage, over 3 lakh pilgrims visited the four shrines. The daily cap of 42,000-16,000 on Badrinath, 13,000 on Kedarnath, 8,000 on Gangotri, and 5,000 on Yamunotri- was put on the Char Dham yatra in an effort to streamline the crowd.
