Mussoorie: The third edition of the Devalsari butterfly festival kicked off at Devalsari in Tehri Garhwal on Friday.
The three-day festival seeks to promote butterfly watching and nature-based tourism and features a butterfly, moth, and bird watching along with heritage and nature walks.
A large number of visitors, including students from nearby villages, and butterflies reached Devalsari for this event.
"The visitors were excited to spot various varieties of butterflies. Many of them are from far-flung places like Bihar, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. We provided tented accommodation to them at Devalsari," said Arun Gour of Devalsari Environment Protection and Technology Development Society, a village community-based organization that is involved in promoting tourism to Devalsari.
Gour added that on Saturday night a special kite-watching program would be organized for the visitors. The major attractions on Sunday would include butterfly watching and bird watching.
