Lodging for 2k pilgrims to be developed near Kedarnath

Dehradun: In view of a heavy turnout of pilgrims, plans are afoot to develop lodging facilities for around 2,000 pilgrims at Lincholi, which is around six km ahead of the Kedarnath shrine, officials said on Thursday. 
Presently, there are accommodations of the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam at Lincholi, and the authorities making arrangements for more residential accommodations for the pilgrims. Sources said, "If completely developed, Lincholi can provide shelter to over 2,000 devotees during heavy rainfall or any other such event. Lincholi can reduce the burden on Kedarnath."
Meanwhile, chief secretary SS Sandhu took stock of the ongoing construction works at Kedarnath on Thursday. During the inspection, The CS instructed the officers to ensure the quality of construction in the ongoing projects.
The CS directed authorities to ensure that the construction material is kept in a systematic manner so that there is no inconvenience caused to the pilgrims coming to Kedarnath. He said that the top priority should be given to the residential buildings being constructed for the priests. Sandhu added that with the cooperation of priests, the ongoing projects need to be finished at a faster pace. The construction of the hospital control center and the administrative building of the temple committee were also inspected by the chief secretary. Besides, the CS also gave instructions to expedite the works of water ATMs being built in Kedarnath.
