Dehradun: Dehradun-based animal welfare group has raised concerns about the alleged ill-treatment of mules and equines during Char Dham yatra, particularly in Kedarnath and Badrinath. Animal lovers have claimed that the mules are being treated with "cruelty and exploited" while ferrying goods and pilgrims. We had recently reported that in 20 days of the Kedarnath yatra, almost 60 mules, have succumbed to "exertion" and poor diet. Proper health check-ups and registration of all animals should be made compulsory, said the welfare group.
