BRO also known as Border Roads Organization reopened Zoji La Pass much earlier than in previous years. Zoji La Pass Generally remains closed from the end of November to mid-April due to heavy snowfall. The route of Zoji La Pass which connects Srinagar Kargil and Leh has been opened now. Zoji La is located at the altitude of 11650 feet and is being used mainly by armed forces in Ladakh Region. Zoji la pass is a link between Kashmir Valley and Ladakh and generally remains closed for 135 Days But this year it has been opened early which will attract more tourists in Kashmir and Ladakh after the covid third wave. BRO DG Lt. Gen Rajeev Chaudhry told the Zoji La has been reopened 73 days before this year, The huge snow got cleared from both sides by projects Beacon and Vijayak which was started on 15th February 2022 this year. After a lot of effort, the connectivity across Zoji la was initially started on 3rd March 2022, and after that BRO started improving the road conditions. The road will help in Supplying Goods and Daily needs items to Ladakh region People and Army. The trial movement was conducted on Saturday by BRO officials and the decision to open the road for civilian traffic will be taken care of after the joint inspection by the civil administration.
