Its capital and largest city is Chennai and it lies in the southernmost part of the Indian peninsula. It is the eleventh largest state and second-largest state economy in India. Its official language is Tamil which is one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world. It is home to many natural resources, classical arts, classical music, classical literature, Hindu temples of Dravidian architecture, hill stations, beach resorts, and multi-religious pilgrimage sites.
The tourism industry of Tamilnadu is the largest in India and is promoted by Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation. The state boasts some of the grand Hindu temples built in Dravidian architecture. It has many national parks, biosphere reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, elephant and bird sanctuaries, reserved forests, zoos, and crocodile farms. Itinerary :
DAY 1 - Arrival at Chennai :
Transfer into the hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 2 - Chennai :
After breakfast, a full-day excursion to Kanchipuram temples. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 3 - Madras / Mahabalipuram :
After breakfast, drive to Mahabalipuram to explore. After lunch, you are free to enjoy the beach. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 4 - Mahabalipuram :
It is also known for its exotic beaches. After breakfast, spend time relaxing on the beach. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 5 - Mahabalipuram / Thanjavur :
After breakfast, drive to Thanjavur. Temple town of South India where places of interest are Brihadeshwara Temple, Palace, Saraswathi Mahal Library, Art Gallery, etc. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 6 - Thanjavur - Swamimalai :
After breakfast, a local sightseeing tour of Thanjavur and later drive to Swamimalai - famous for its Ayurvedic treatment center. Check into the Ayurvedic resort and relax in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 7 - Swamimalai :
Spend the day getting Ayurveda therapy/treatment at the resort and relax. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 8 - Thanjavur / Trichy :
After breakfast, drive to Trichy. At noon, visit Rock cut temple, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Sri Jambukeshwara Temple, and St. John's Church. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 9 - Trichy / Madurai :
After breakfast, drive to Madurai. Check into the hotel and explore Madurai. Thirumalai Nayak Palace, Gandhi museum, Azaghar Kovil are some of the places of interest at Madurai. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 10 - Madurai / Rameshwaram / Madurai :
Early morning, drive to Rameshwaram for a full day excursion. Explore the place throughout the day and return back in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 11 - Madurai - Chennai - Onwards :
Transfer to Madurai airport for flight to Chennai and onward destination.
