Rain, the storm likely in 48 hrs, Met issues yellow alert

Dehradun: The regional meteorological centre has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand during the next five days.
After a prolonged dry spell, bouts of heavy showers, and thunderstorm activity accompanied by gusty winds at a speed of speed 40-50 kmph are expected during the next 48 hours, especially in the Kumaon region and Dehradun district, according to Bikram Singh, director of the Met centre.
The Met Office also issued a warning predicting landslides at some isolated places in vulnerable spots and said that "minor damages to Kutcha houses and loose/unsecured structures could occur due to gusty winds ranging between 40-50 kilometres per hour."
The rain activity is expected to bring down temperature levels, giving people some respite from the heat which has reached unusually high levels even in the Himalayan state.
People have been advised to be cautious and take shelter during lightning/gusty wind activities in safe places.
