Dehradun: Rainfall along with strong winds are expected in the Himalayan state for a period of four days from Saturday to May 24. Weather experts have predicted an improvement in the situation from May 25.
Bikram Singh, director of the regional meteorological center, Dehradun, said, "We have predicted a change in weather conditions and asked people to remain alert for four days. Rainfall and strong winds are likely to be witnessed in different parts of the state." Till May 22, the hills would receive light-to-medium rainfall and also witness strong winds and thunderstorms. "In the plains, strong winds which may go up to 70-km per hour are expected. They may damage kaccha houses and uproot trees. We have requested people to remain alert and avoid going out during strong winds." On May 23 and 24, there are predictions of light to moderate rains in the hills. "During this period, the wind speed may go up to 90-km per hour," said the Met director, adding that weather conditions are expected to change from May 25. "There can be rainfall in some parts of the state on May 25 but the weather is expected to improve by then," added Singh.
