Flyers who flout mask norms on no-fly list: HC

New Delhi: Calling for strict action against errant passengers who flout Covid-19 masking norms during air travel, the Delhi high court on Friday said such travellers should be put on no- fly list.
"We are of the view that DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) should issue separate binding directions to all airlines to authorise the staff at airports and in aircraft, including air hostesses, captains, pilots and others, to take strict action others who violate masking and fined and placed in no-fly list. In our view, it is essential to have sufficient deterrence to enforce compliance of norms," a bench of action Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Sachin Duta observed. Noting that very often norms are not implemented on the ground with the seriousness with which they are framed, the court underlined that the "pandemic has not abated and keeps springing up its ugly head now and then". It is essential for the authorities, including DGCA to ensure that the ground is effected properly, the HC stressed.
