4G internet service at Kedarnath now

Dehradun: In the wake of the ongoing Char Dham yatra that is witnessing a high pilgrim footfall, telecommunication company Reliance Jio has launched high-speed 4G voice and data services on the 16-km-long Kedarnath trek route.
With this, Jio has become the first operator to give mobile and data connectivity on the trek route between Gaurikund and the Kedarnath shrine, situated at an altitude of 11,755 feet, the company officials said.
The mobile and data services were launched on Sunday by Ajendra Ajay, chairman of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee. The company has initially installed three mobile towers at Choti Lincholi, Rudra point, covering 90% of the 16km long trek route between Gaurikund and Kedarnath temple.
Three more towers are soon going to be operational to cover 100% area of the trek route and to provide uninterrupted connectivity to pilgrims, according to YP Singh, a senior executive of Jio telecom.
Ajendra Ajay told, "The 4G Mobile and data services will benefit lakhs of pilgrims who visit Kedarnath every year. During the trek, pilgrims will now be able to remain connected with their family members."
The company has also installed a full-capacity tower at Sonprayag, which is a starting point or gateway to the Kedarnath yatra.
In the 24 days of its opening. Kedarnath has hosted over 3.81 lakh pilgrims.
